Giving back to our automotive ecosystem.

Flexco Fleet Services is honored to give back to the automotive ecosystem through our very own charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called The Hourglass Foundation. The Hourglass Foundation’s mission is to empower first-generation, low income, and diversely underrepresented students through scholarship opportunities that support educational pursuits in automotive technology and other blue collar skilled trades programs, including HVAC, plumbing, construction, welding, electrical, and similar. As part of the Foundation’s overall vision, they aim to be part of a larger solution to help reduce the overall skilled trades workforce shortage.
Co-founded by Ron Shoemaker, the original Founder of Flexco Fleet Services, and Chad Shoemaker, Flexco’s current Chief Executive Officer, The Hourglass Foundation was established to give back to a fleet industry that had been so generous to Flexco for over three decades. Since 2020, The Hourglass Foundation has awarded approximately $120,000+ in scholarship gifts.
The Hourglass Foundation not only helps deserving students in their educational endeavors but contributes to the automotive industry by raising awareness for auto technology and other skilled trades as viable career paths—of which women are still vastly underrepresented. Notably, two of the organization’s direct scholarship opportunities are open to women only, including a ‘Women in Auto Tech’ scholarship and a ‘Women Rock Trades’ scholarship.
The Hourglass Foundation’s success is achieved in part through individual donations, corporate contributions, corporate sponsorships, vehicle donations and in-kind donations.
We believe that by investing in educating the next generation of skilled trades professionals, we can help reduce the automotive tech shortage and infuse the automotive ecosystem with the skilled expertise needed to carry forward the success of our industry.
